Michael Spalter is Chairman of the Board at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and previously served as a Vice Chairman of the RISD Board of Trustees; he has been a member of the Museum Board of Governors since 2008. Mr Spalter is also a Trustee of the American Friends of the Louvre and on the Advisor Board of Harvard University’s Cultural Entrepreneurship Initiative and a Trustee of Boston Cyberarts, which hosted the first new media festival in the United States.
Michael cofounded Preservation of Capital Management, LLC, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of D.E. Shaw, a global investment and technology firm. In addition, he and Anne Morgan Spalter have created one of the world’s largest private early digital art collections, loaning works to venues such as London’s Victoria & Albert Museum and MoMA. Michael has a Bachelor of Arts in Art History from Brown and an MBA from Harvard.
