Alexander Chen has been making musical and interactive work since 2002, working with companies such as The Barbarian Group, Modernista, and Google. In 2002, Chen created Sonata for the Unaware, a piece which generated music from video footage of Philadelphia subway commuters. In 2011, Chen launched MTA.ME, which transformed a New York subway map into a string instrument. He has exhibited at the Flash Forward conference, The Mu (Eindhoven), The Musem of the Moving Image, Sonar Festival, and Museum of Design (Zurich). During the day, Alexander Chen is a designer at Google Creative Lab. He conceived the Les Paul Doodle, built in collaboration with the Doodle team and engineers. He's also worked on projects for Google TV and Chrome.
