Linear Zoetropes

Speaking about his work, Josh says, “My pieces are internally lit boxes that, when you move past them, show a moving image. Typical moving images use one to three seconds of animation or video…The medium has grown to be a passion, steadily growing from when I first conceived of it and made the first models with balsa wood, glue, and construction paper. My scientific background helped me discover the parameters and equations that characterize the medium. My entrepreneurial background led me to develop the manufacturing and printing requirements and to write the code to transform raw images into a printable series.”
Special thanks to Jeff Becker of Jeff Becker Photography for being our videographer, and Crossing Art for giving us a warm welcome.
